The MenCare Global Fatherhood campaign launched a webinar series to promote the strategic recommendations from the State of the World’s Fathers 2023 Report. Each webinar throughout the year will highlight one of the six recommendations from SOWF 2023, which align with the acronym CARING. The webinar series will highlight examples and evidence of care systems from around the world that engage men in unpaid care work.
The first discussion focused on the “C” in CARING: “Centering care systems in policies and public institutions, focusing on the most marginalized.” The webinar was hosted by MenCare Global Co-Coordinators, Equimundo and Sonke Gender Justice, and we were joined by the Global Alliance for Care, a multistakeholder community that promotes strengthening the care economy, transforming gender roles in care work, and accelerating economic recovery from the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Alliance advocates for recognizing unpaid care work, adopting regulatory and policy frameworks and standards that secure decent care work, and reducing unpaid care work through scaling investments in social care infrastructure and services.
