In Russia, an interactive map and online portal are bringing together organizations that work with fathers

At an event in St. Petersburg on December 1, 2017, MenCare partners in Russia launched an interactive map showing the Russian organizations, centers, and activist groups that are working to engage men as involved fathers and caregivers in the country, as part of the new “Отцовство в России” (“Fatherhood in Russia”) online portal.

The interactive map pinpoints the cities and regions in Russia where organizations and initiatives that work on fatherhood and men’s caregiving are located. Twenty-six organizations from 16 cities across the country are currently listed, with more to come.

The interactive map is just one piece of the larger Отцовство в России portal, which aims to serve as both a resource hub and a platform for organizations in the field to exchange practical knowledge and experiences.

The portal includes a “Knowledge Center,” a free database of available research, methodologies, case studies, news, and events related to work to engage men as fathers and caregivers. The resources available include the Russian translations of Program P and the 2015 State of the World’s Fathers report. The 2017 State of the World’s Fathers: Time for Action report is also being translated into Russian, and will be uploaded to the Knowledge Center after being finalized.

Local and international groups that promote fathers’ positive involvement in care are also profiled on the portal, with details about their work, projects, and contact information.
