In Turkey, MenCare partner AÇEV considers Mother’s Day to be an excellent opportunity to challenge gender stereotypes and to work toward a more equal, caring society. Aiming to show how mothers and fathers can equally contribute to child development and share the care work, in May AÇEV produced an animated video for Mother’s Day.
On Mother’s Day, stereotypes about motherhood and fatherhood are often reproduced in mass media and on digital platforms. With its video, AÇEV aimed to offer an alternative to these stereotypes with messages about gender equality. As an organization that puts early childhood development at its core, AÇEV’s video advocates for equality through the voices and stories of children, challenging the commercialization of Mother’s Day and instead celebrating the joy in daily family routines.
