CARE International Balkans, supported by Austrian Development Cooperation and Oak Foundation, launched the MenCare campaign in five countries in northwest Balkans on May 15, 2015. MenCare, a global fatherhood campaign, promotes men’s involvement as equitable, nonviolent fathers and caregivers in order to achieve family wellbeing, gender equality, and better health for mothers, fathers, and children. As part of the new campaign in the Balkans, partners in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, and Serbia are working with young fathers to-be and in health centers and centers for social work. In May, partners began adapting and piloting Program P, MenCare’s manual to engage men in fatherhood, in caregiving, and in maternal, newborn, and child health.
